I was merely an ANFSCD punter, albeit a reasonably regular one for a while. (there was f*?! all else in Chatswood in the 70"s). My friends Noel and Beth introduced me to the place being veggie/creative types. I just enjoyed the late nights, pungent atmosphere and the "vibe thing". I remember in that small room hearing Graham Lowndes, Glenn Cardier and Paul Dengate for the first time and wondering why they weren't the big stars they deserved to be.

As fate and serendipity decided, I ended up sharing a house with Paul and Sally in Jeffrey St Kirribilli. Paul would rehearse with his amazing collection of foot pedal effects for hours in their upstairs bedroom as I remember. He introduced me to David Bowie's back catalogue and some other guy called Iggy Pop(?).

When I think of those times I'm reminded of some wise words by Billy Connolly who while recalling his own youth said that really, it wasn't that everything was better back then, it was just that he missed his youth.
